Dr Timothy Baird
Dr Timothy Baird graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 and underwent specialist training in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Tim additionally completed a Diploma of Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom and volunteered as a medical officer in rural Papua New Guinea.
Prior to eventually returning to practise on the Sunshine Coast in 2019, Tim underwent an international fellowship at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, where he developed further skills in complex lung infections, bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis.
Tim has a passion for bronchiectasis and respiratory infections, particularly non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease. Tim also has expertise in all other areas of respiratory and sleep medicine including asthma, COPD, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, sleep apnoea, and non-respiratory sleep disorders. He is skilled in bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and pleural disease management.
Tim holds a staff specialist position at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and consults privately at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Buderim Private Hospital.
Tim remains actively involved in research and is a current member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, The European Respiratory Society, the Australasian Sleep Association, and the Lung Foundation of Australia.
