Dr Julia Bashford
Dr Julia Bashford completed her Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) in 2007 and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2011, both at the University of Queensland. She then lived and worked on the Sunshine Coast for 5 years, completing her internship and early medical training at Nambour General Hospital. She subsequently undertook specialist training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Cairns Hospital, obtaining her FRACP in 2020.
She completed a clinical fellowship in cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and complex pulmonary infection at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge in the United Kingdom in 2019, followed by a fellowship in sleep medicine at the Gold Coast University Hospital in 2020.
Julia is a staff specialist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and at the Prince Charles Hospital in the cystic fibrosis unit. She attends Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Buderim Private Hospital. She has expertise in cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, sleep disorders, respiratory failure, lung cancer, asthma and COPD. She is proficient in bronchoscopy including EBUS and management of pleural disorders.
Julia is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian Sleep Association, the British Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society.
